DOG´S PSYCHOLOGY

Dear animal lovers, dog owners and dog fans

Welcome to my homepage “Hundeverhalten” (english translation: dog´s behaviour). I am glad that you found my webpage.

I have been living in Spain more than 10 years, in the Urbanización La Marina, situated in the south of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. From the first moment on I saw the bad situation of animal protection en general, that motivated me even more to rase my voice for our four-legged friends.

The relation between a spanish dog owner and his dog is basicly different to what we know from the UK or Germany. Often it seems to be cold, sometimes even brutal or soulless. Even if they have done a lot in the last years and the attitude towards pets is improved, there is still much to be done to improve the situation of the four-legged friends, too. For me this was the mainreason to create a separate page on this subject.

There is also the fact that I was looking for a German dog trainer or dog psychologist in my area without any result. Other search terms, for example, dog school, dog training, or dog behaviour specialist have not been successful. What to do?

Upon further searching I came across a variety of instruction opportunities for dog trainers and dog behaviour consultants, and decided to go to a training course as a dog behaviourist. I have successfully completed the final exam in March 2009. To continue my education, I regularly visited the dog club in Benissa. There I assisted as a dog trainer in various courses and I also learned to work with problematic dogs. Furthermore I reinforced my knowledge how to train a dog in a well-known dog school in Germany, runned by a team of vets specialised in dog behavioural therapy.

When searching in german or english for a dog trainer in the province of Alicante, now www.hundeverhalten.es provides at least one result. Here, every dog lover will find something of interest on the subject around the relationship between owner and dog.

I will try to give some general advice, but please bear in mind that an individual advice from a distance is hardly possible, because no dog is like another. But even if your dog does not show an abnormal behaviour and you are not looking for a dog coach, it is worth to browse on my pages. Even avid readers can find specific books and recommendations on the subject "dog training, dog behaviour, dog psychology, etc." under the heading Literature & more.

And of course you are right here if you want to learn to communicate with dogs and to understand the dogs abilities. If you get any specific behavioural problems (pulling on the lead, anxiety problems, fear or timid dog, aggressions, urge to hunt, generally bad mannered, etc.), however, a personal meeting is required.

I hope you enjoy reading and browsing,

Anja Langer
